In keeping with our mission, No Coast makes its studio resources available to the community, with the support and supervision of its artist members. There are several ways you can access our facilities, for cost or donation. Keep updated on opportunities as they come by subscribing to our e-mail newsletter, following the blog on our homepage, or joining our group on Facebook.
Rental
No Coast’s screenprinting facilities are available for rent on a $50 per-week basis. Previous screenprinting experience is required. Renters are free to use the studio any time during open hours, and at other times by arrangement. Use of all permanent equipment, including limited screen use, is included in the fee. It is recommended you bring your own screens though. All consumable supplies such as emulsions, inks, papers etc. are not included. Personal storage space is limited.
Permanent equipment includes: paper cutters and mats, back-lit tracing table, two large printing tables with hinge clamps, several portable boards with clamps, large and small drying racks, clotheslines, darkroom with UV exposure unit, washout room with hoses and pressure washer.
For one-day work sessions, please contact us for rates & availability.
Lock-In
The No-Coast Screenprinting Lock-In is a 24-hour drop-in workshop. Lock-Ins occur about every other month and are open to the public. Anyone can drop in at any time during the 24 hours to work on a screenprinting project (but remember you need to allow yourself 4-5 hours total to finish - especially if you come in towards closing). No experience necessary. Please bring ideas, snacks, and a donation to cover time, instruction & materials. We’ll cover the rest. Golden Squeegee awards and prizes will be given to those who stay the whole 24 (or the most of it)!
Though the Lock-In is mostly open format, there will be scheduled technique workshops (usually one on the first evening, and another on the second afternoon) to help those that need a little more structure. Topics covered may include basics, 4-color printing, t-shirt printing, pattern design, or related skills such as bookbinding.
Classes
No Coast also holds periodic 2-day intensive workshops at a fixed rate. Join our mailing list or the Facebook group to keep updated on when the next workshop comes up and how to register.
